Our Reason for Being

The members of the MindHeart Foundation believe that our current worship environment has become so culture driven, that we are neglecting the biblical meaning of praise and worship.

We have similar issues with other areas of scripture that have been interpreted more from the realm of culture and tradition then from the actual meaning of scripture. We are doing work in these areas as well, especially the issue of justice, and intend to publish material on those subjects in the coming months and years.

A multitude of publications exist that seek to describe biblical worship. However, it is our observation that these works are looking at the issues of form in worship, and therefore define worship in the context of that concern. The result is that the church is dividing over liturgy verses free-form; entertainment vs. reverance; casual vs. formal.

Our hope is to discard form as the issue, and to move instead to a recognition that worship and praise are not about how we do these things, but rather what we are doing.

The pages on this web site and our publications are intended to bring clarity to the biblical usage of the terms that we now use in english for praise and worship.

Feel free to dialogue with us on this issue. You can review our materials online, order our printed material, participate in mailing list or online forum discussions. Our site will be updating regularly, so please return often.

Guiding Principles

Seeking direction and definition from the Word of God revealed in the Hebrew and Greek texts and from authorized translations.

Recognizing the identifiable and instructive contributions of those men and women intent on finding and following the pursuit of Biblical themes, to the praise and worship of God.

Relying on the guidance of the Spirit of God, particularly with reference to the study and presentation of themes from God’s Word.

Goal

Promote and fund the continuing study and dissemination of Biblical praise and worship. To Accomplish this MindHeart intends to:

Further identify the “what is” as compared to the currently prevalent “how to” concerning the concepts and practices of praise and worship.

Promote our Publications: Running the River of Praise; Wading in Pools of Worship and Decisive Praise and Worship: Actualizing our Devotion to the Lord

Develop Seminar materials and Workshop courses that demonstrate the concepts of Biblical praise and worship as outlined in Rivers of Praise, Pools of Worship and on this web site.

Publish instructional materials such as:

Workbooks

Videos

Tapes

Design and develop promotional items for communication and funding, such as:

Bookmarks

Calendars

Networking

Produce articles for submission to publications.

Thank you for visiting our site.

The MindHeart Foundation is dedicated to the study and presentation of biblical material that seeks to balance the trend toward cultural interpretation of key biblical words, ideas, and passages with a thorough background review of what those items actually meant in the scripture, and how those meanings should dominate our understanding as opposed to seeing them through a strictly cultural lens.

Our primary focus has been on the subject or praise and worship, and we are including in that some new work on the issue of justice as it is understood by scripture.
